Magical Miniatures
If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.
About me and my blog
I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Wizards mirror, book and stand
With the wizards mirror I was going to paint it blue but thought it was a little too much as I still have the shelf to finish and that will match the furniture. I still have the books to make that will line the shelf too!
Using beads and gems I decorated the mirror frame picking out the blue with some of the beads. I then used the same ribbon as the bows on the curtains to create a loop to hang it from.
I have made an over sized spell book and used real spells that I shrunk then printed out for the pages. I lined the inside of the cover with tissue paper and the outer cover in a leather look material. On the outside I added a silver decoration and gems.
To house the book I have a pillar the same colour as the mirror so I added a bead to the back of the plinth so the book will rest nicely against it. Now it just needs to dry.

A room without a view
Now I have started again with this room box ideas for how I want it to look inside and out are flowing. Although within reason I am limited to what I have lying around.
I decided that although I hadn't actually given the room a window it needed one. So with that said I printed one out with a view behind it. Then cut out two pieces of card a fraction smaller than I wanted the curtains. I wanted them pulled too just not quiet shut so the card strips were quiet wide. I also cut two pieces of card to fit across the top of the curtains as a pelmet. One wider than the other.
I covered both in a silky material and left to dry.
The two longer pieces of card I again covered in silky material but this time I made vertical creases to create texture and flow to the curtain when hung and left the material a fraction longer than the card.
After piecing together I made and added two small bows from ribbon and attached the window picture. Once dry it stuck nicely to the wall.
My next two projects are the mirror and shelf in the last photo.

Dodgy old room box
Some time ago I made the beginnings of a room box but got board with it, I use it as background for most of my pics but it really is a mess!
So today I cut down some scrap book collage paper as wall paper and cut out a pattern as a boarder and stuck them on. I have some thick material that looks like carpet so I cut it down and stuck it on. So far it has made a huge difference!

Wizards chair and chest all done
After varnishing and spray glittering the chair I re covered the seat pad in a leather look material and glued it back on to finish it off.
I had a 1:12 scale chest so I thought i'd renovate it for the wizards study. Firstly I removed the horrid pick nick gone wrong lining and painted and varnished it to match the desk and chair.
Then, because I just got a printer! I printed out a map and stuck it into the lid. Adding a few gems then varnished over.
I made a cushion for the bottom and added some more gems along with a selection of wizardry things!

Wizards chair
Well it's all good having a wizards desk but he must have a chair to sit at! With that said I popped off to my local doll house emporium on route to work and grabbed a chair that I liked.
I have since pulled bits off I didn't like then sanded and painted it.
I still need to varnish, spray glitter and re cover the seat pad. Once the paint is dry i'll carry on.

Wizards desk and accessories
Although I still need to amend the only draw I have for the desk the rest is on the way.
I have finished the glossing and waited hour upon hour for it to dry, then sprayed over with glitter varnish to add a touch of magic.
Once all was dry I set out the parchments, scrolls and some of the bead bottles.
