Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

A room without a view

Now I have started again with this room box ideas for how I want it to look inside and out are flowing. Although within reason I am limited to what I have lying around.
I decided that although I hadn't actually given the room a window it needed one. So with that said I printed one out with a view behind it. Then cut out two pieces of card a fraction smaller than I wanted the curtains. I wanted them pulled too just not quiet shut so the card strips were quiet wide. I also cut two pieces of card to fit across the top of the curtains as a pelmet. One wider than the other.
I covered both in a silky material and left to dry.
The two longer pieces of card I again covered in silky material but this time I made vertical creases to create texture and flow to the curtain when hung and left the material a fraction longer than the card.
After piecing together I made and added two small bows from ribbon and attached the window picture. Once dry it stuck nicely to the wall.
My next two projects are the mirror and shelf in the last photo.
