Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

1 inch hanging witch

I have shrunk my 7 inch hanging witch to a tiny 1 inch. She is soooo cute. I made her in the same way as the bigger one just far smaller.

Another hanging witch

After the hanging witch I made I was asked to make one for a neighbor in gray, yellow and white. So I did and she was over the moon. I made her in the same way I made the red and black one only changing the colors, hair, her clothes and she is holding a diamond rather than a crystal ball.

Finished hanging witch

With hair and a face I think my hanging witch looks great.

Hanging witch

I am working on a hanging witch at the moment. She is made from a wire frame I covered in bandage and pva glue, then wound over with wool. I attached feathers for her skirt and made her a top from lace.
I have given her a broom and crystal ball. Just her face, hair and the string to dangle her from left to do.

Fish bowl

I had a little left over scenic water in my jar and a tiny glass bowl so I decided to make two little clay fish, paint them then set them in the bowl.
I threw in a couple of tiny stones and this is what I got.

A finished sink

I have had so much fun making this little sink. It's my first scaled wooden miniature and I think it has turned out great.
The bottles of detergent and bleach are made from clay, painted then I cut out the labels from a catalog as I don't have a printer to create my own and the handles are made from beads.
The tap I made from clay, painted and varnished it.

My 1:12 scale kitchen

I have given my sink unit a few coats of matt varnish to seal the wood and am now making the front with doors. In the mean time I have started making the washing machine. I have used a small plastic tub with some tiny dolls clothes in set with the scenic water I bought for the drum. I think it works well. I then built the body using balsa wood and intend to paint it with a white gloss finish. I also need to make a ring to go around the doors opening giving the look of the washer door and buttons for the front of the machine.
