Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

1.12 Rabbit hutch

After scaling a rabbit hutch down to 1.12 scale I set about making one from balsa wood. It worked out at 6 inches wide 2 inches deep and 4.5 inches high.
I made two boxes cutting a square hole in the bottom of the top box and adding a ladder leading into the bottom. On both floors I sprinkled sawdust.
Using a piece of oven mesh I cut out a small piece to add to the door as the bars. The caged bottom will be oven mesh too.

Hanging fairy witches and princess

I gave my new hanging witches and  fairy a glittery belt each and I think it finishes there dresses off just nicely. Also I have finished off the neck lines and sleeve edges with ribbon.
Then I wanted to do a different kind of skirt rather than feathers. Using a very fine net I folded and glued it so it would hang how I wanted and added pieces of fine ribbon just a little longer than the net. I made tiny bows and added them to the ribbon gluing it into place.

Candles

Well im an over thinker at the best of times so when I was planning to take a piece of cotton and dip it into wax to create candles for a dolls house I decided that there must be a far quicker fix. Yep there was, after a lot of wondering it struck me that tapers would cut down nicely, and they did. Ive made a few little stands using ribbon and a gem and a wrap for a selection of candles the same way. They turned out well.

Back at it

Well its been a while but its time to jump back on that horse and start again with my miniatures. As I loved the hanging witches, fairys and mermaids so much and they sold so well I decided to do some more.
Im considering making them into kits too so those of us that like to create can make there own.
Heres a quick peek as they start to take shape.
