Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Small castle

I decided I wanted to make a castle so i've started to shape it out using balsa wood. It is 18 cm wide by 10 cm high.  Once the turrets go on it will be taller.
I have still to add the two side walls but im waiting for glue to dry.

Treasure box

I have made this treasure box from balsa wood, material, paint and gems. Its just under 1 inch wide, just under 1 inch high and is 0.5 inch deep.

1 inch treasure chest

I had a custom order for a 1 inch treasure chest. Using balsa wood, felt, wire, material a touch of paint, some semi precious stones and paper this is what I have made. I hope she likes it.

carriage actually done.

Well after looking at the wheels on my carriage I realised they were on the wrong way round! Obviously this would never do and I tore them off and sorted them out. So this time we really are all done.

Cinderella carriage part 2

Well I am pleased to report that the squash I was trying to dry actually dried. I have painted the inside cream to brighten it up a little, edged the door and window in beads and added a feather to the top.
Inside I have laid a red carpet and topped the seats in red too. Both the seats and carpet are edged with gems. Still loads to do but it's looking promising so far.

Cinderella carriage

With Halloween just gone I am at it again wanting a real dried pumpkin. But every year I try drying at least 3 in different ways only to end up with the same result. Disaster.
This year I have decided that I'll try with a squash. I have semi dried one before but the dogs stole it!  Yes they love fruit and vegetables!  Hopefully this time it's safe.
So far it's been drying for nearly a week and is definitely working.
I have started on the cart and wheels that the dried squash will sit on. So far I have started to make the seat that will be attached to the front of the squash where the footmen would sit and the seats for inside are ready for the plush red cushions to be made and added. Also I have made a little ledge for under the window.
I am going to add a light to the inside roof and a red carpet leading up the steps into the carriage.

Autumnal has her face painted.

Autumnal my leaf fairy is now completely finished.  I have painted her eyelids, eyes and lips and I think she looks beautiful. With her all done I just need to hang her from invisible thread.
