Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Ogres cavern

I have an image in my head of an Ogre sitting in an oversized chair within the fallen walls of a crystal cave. So I decided to try and bring it to life.
I started by buying my first lot of polymer clay to make my Ogre. I wanted a push mould but could not find what I wanted. I had to just make him freehand in the end. None of this is actually anywhere near done but I wanted to show it so far.
My tree is made from wire and covered in felt and Moss for the leaves. The Cave ruins are glass pieces that I built up. The edge of one of the walls twists off to create what will be a pool. Inside I have set tiny turquoise and aquamarine beads as the bed but I will add scenic water over the top.
Just about to mix up some t bag and sand soil for the floor then I can start to finish everything I have started to make off and whip up everything else I will need to set the scene.

The winter scene and it's lights

Well by now you are well acquainted with my winter scene. I have been looking for plugs for my lights for weeks but I couldn't find them. Until today. So welcome to my grand light switch on. I am so proud of this make so far.

Hanging basket

I wanted an ornate hanging basket for a plant I altered so with wire and beads I put this one together. I like the way it has turned out.

Bathroom furniture

I have had some brick shaped beads for a while now and until today couldn't think of what to do with them. I started off creating a mirror frame then added a shelf at the bottom with some bead bottles to decorate it. I also added a towel rail and towel.
As I like to make things match I used a single bead and a bit of wire for a toilet roll holder. I used card and toilet roll to make the toilet roll.
Next I stained two strips of wood and used the beads to space the shelves out and as feet at the bottom.
Once dried I added things to bring it to life.

Bits and bats

Today I have been working on an ornamental tree for a house or room box. I also made the vase it stands in. I had a fairy house or witches and wizards abode in mind while I made it but I think it could go in a posh big hall too.
I have put together a chandelier as well using beads and wire. I have added a light bulb so it works too.

Winter street next steps

The winter street was lacking in something. People so I ordered some that are for trains really but they were the perfect size. I think they bring it to life. I added a new layer of the snow I made using 1 part salt to 3 parts white glue, and am about to start work on the base for the battery for the lights to go.

Magical bottles

I have been in the bead box again!
After a rummage I found some sparkling beads that were crying out to be used so I whipped up 3 bottles to add glitz to any dolls house or wizard room.
