Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Stumpy, the next step

Again the long long long process of paint drying! I hate waiting for things to dry. Even so I have given Stumpy a first coat of paint. Except the vines as I am in need of green!
I have used enamel paint as I like the finish. Especially in the jars.
And yes this is no different, it's going in a jar.
The bottom of the jar will be grassy and I am going to make a fairy and a pixie to live in it too.
I have made a little flower patch to go on top of the tree stump and I just need to paint it before it's attached. Also I made three little rocks that also need painting! to go on top.

Stumpy

I love trees. There is so much magic in the thought of a tree! I mean you have Ents in Lord of the rings. The apple trees in The wizard of oz, The tree that threw Harry and Ron around Hogwarts grounds and many more magically animated wooden friends. So you can probably see why I hold them in such great esteem.
So with that in mind I decided to make a little heaven for a fairy and an elf [not yet made].
I used a toilet roll tube to work around then built a tree stump from air dry clay. There is still so  much to do but this is it so far.

Voodoo lampshade

I have decided to do a voodoo window box. So far I have the chair and now a lampshade. Using the same beads as the chair but incorporating some skull beads I threaded them onto wire to secure them together.

Spell book and unicorn horn wand

I have made a spell book and unicorn horn wand from fimo. I have made them for my five pound or under Etsy range. Hope you like them.

A bird in a tree

I made a tree from wire then covered it with fimo. I set it into a fimo base and made a tiny bird. After cooking them I set them into a small jar. The bottom I covered in glitter.
I've yet to decorate the lid.

A finished tiny pickled witch

With my tiny witch cooked I have set her in the 4cm by 2cm jar. I used a small crystal ball as the stopper.
I think she's turned out great, and don't worry that stopper is secure. She can't escape.

Tiny pickled witch

I've always fancied a go at an ultra tiny pickled witch. So here she is. I don't know to what scale micro miniatures work on but the bottle i'm putting her in is 4cm high and 2cm wide. I made her from fimo. Once she is cooked i'll pop her in and seal her up.

Another chair

While I waited for hours for the glue to dry on my voodoo chair I also set about making another chair. Only this time a little more on the light side.
Again iv'e used a variety of pewter beads and glass beads for the edging. For the chairs seat and back I covered card with a leather look material and finished it off with a silver look metal butterfly.

A voodoo chair with legs

The legs are on! The voodoo chair is nearly finished. It needs some cobwebs that I shall add once it is dry.

Voodoo chair

I have had the idea for a voodoo chair since I saw the brown beads I used to make it with. They just have that look. The back is a brass look metal that I attached pewter spiders too. The seat is card covered with brown velvet. Once this bit is dry i'll attach the legs, also made from the brown beads.

A finished pickled witch

At last it is finished. I decided the outside of the jar needed no complicated extras to distract from the scene inside. Instead I have painted the metal fastener black, I think this sets off the pickled witch scene well.

Another pickled witch

I have set my pickled witch scene at last. Just awaiting glue to dry! I painted the base of the flower garden black to blend in better with the floor and added the finished cat.
I think it has turned out great. Just the outside to do next.
