Magical Miniatures

If you love all things magical and miniature you are in the right place.

About me and my blog

I am a mother of three and work on a market stall. In my free time I love to make magical miniatures. It all started with my gran who spent hours when I was a child teaching me how to make do. This entailed mending and fixing and making things from scratch. My dolls house consisted of cardboard boxes with windows cut out, beautifully decorated and all furniture hand made. We sat for hours making clothes and accessories for my dolls to the envy of my friends that all had the same generic stuff. So thanks gran for the inspiration. I hope you enjoy my art and my blog. Thanks for visiting.

Stumpy

I love trees. There is so much magic in the thought of a tree! I mean you have Ents in Lord of the rings. The apple trees in The wizard of oz, The tree that threw Harry and Ron around Hogwarts grounds and many more magically animated wooden friends. So you can probably see why I hold them in such great esteem.
So with that in mind I decided to make a little heaven for a fairy and an elf [not yet made].
I used a toilet roll tube to work around then built a tree stump from air dry clay. There is still so  much to do but this is it so far.

  1. It is awesome so far! I love trees also- and leaves. My home is filled with lots of oak leaves and acorns and pine cones :) (and pumpkins- I have a strange obsession with pumpkins)

  2. Thanks Kim. I wanted to do a scene inside a dried pumpkin, also I wanted to do a dark fairytale carriage with one but no matter what I do I can't dry one! crafty little things! I've tried all sorts. x

  3. I don't know if you ever could- I think they are too full of moisture and will just rot. You should look for one of those new carvable plastic pumpkins after halloween and then you could just make it look more realistic with paint to take away the plastic feel- and you could carve doors or whatever you like into it instead of a face! A dark fairy tale carriage sounds like such a fun project!!!

  4. Yes, or make one from clay but it would have been good from the real thing! x
